Howard's Work

Howard J. Kopel has proudly dedicated his career to public service and the residents of Nassau County. Elected to the Nassau County Legislature in 2009, Howard continues a record of unwavering commitment, effective leadership, and real results for our community.

Throughout his tenure, Howard has held positions of increasing responsibility and leadership, including serving as Alternate Presiding Officer, Deputy Alternate Presiding Officer, and—since 2024—Presiding Officer of the Nassau County Legislature, the highest leadership role in the county's legislative body.

From championing important legislation to fighting for his district's needs and improving quality of life across Nassau County, Howard has built a long history of legislative achievements and strong, results-driven leadership. He remains focused on fiscal responsibility, public safety, infrastructure, and supporting our local communities.
